Age & Weight Requirements 2011  (Changes for 2011 are posted)

Navy and Army Team placement for Pony, PW and Intermediates will be determined by team Coaches based on

experience, ability and in some cases size.  Parent's requests or questions must be directed to team Coaches.

“Exceptions to the below age and weight requirements will only be considered by the Board of Directors if initiated by a letter on a physician’s letterhead clearly stating the medical reasons why a potential player can not participate in the designated age and weight group.  The letter should document the risk factors involved.  Requests from parents and coaches will not be considered until the physician’s letter is received.”

Middle School League (MSFL, no weight restrictions)

The RFL is planning an eight team Middle School League in 2011.  The  teams are aligned with Montgomery County High Schools with the cooperation of Varsity and JV coaches, to better prepare serious players for the next level.  Players that do not live in a cluster served by the schools represented in the League will be placed on an unaffiliated team in the League.  There are no weight restrictions, although we do suggest a minimum of 125 pounds for those not in the 8th grade.  The league is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders under the following criteria:

Will be in the 8th grade in the fall of the season registering for.

or

Cannot make Intermediate weight (145lbs) regardless of grade

or

Will be in the 7th grade in the fall of the season registering for and have played one  year of Intermediate football.

or

Will be in the 7th grade in the fall of the season registering for, have played organized tackle football and weigh a minimum of 125 lbs.

9th graders, regardless of age are not allowed.

This is a competitive program with no minimum play rule and teams may cut players that are eligible for weighted divisions depending upon roster size.  Players will be assigned to the team that serves the Montgomery County School cluster they live in and the school their middle school feeds.
