that you read the revised RFL Rules and Coach's
Requirements and Responsibilities.

RFL Rules
The following procedure must be followed to be
certified to coach in the RFL:
1. RFL Thriva Registration
(all Coaches)
Register to Coach in the RFL (Thriva) by clicking on the
Coach Registration link on the RFL website home
page. This must be done by all coaches every
season. Spring and Fall are separate seasons.
2. NYSCA
Certification
(all coaches)
Once you have a confirmation that you have
registered to coach you must complete the National
Youth Coaches Association Certification (NYSCA).
RETURNING Coaches:
If you have coached in the RFL in the last two years
you simply need to renew your certification at
www.nays.org . If you renew by July 1 the RFL will
return your renewal fee at Weigh-In.
NEW Coaches:
Must take the NYSCA basic youth coaching course and
the Football Specific Course at
www.nays.org.
Make sure you stipulate Rockville Football League as
your Chapter.
3. Background Check
Release Form
(all first year and
coaches who first coached in 2010)
All New Coaches and Coaches who first certified in
2010 or 2011 must submit the Background Check
Release Form. This must be done every year by
coaches whose first season was Fall 2010. The form is available by
clicking on the link below the Coach Registration
link. The form must be printed, signed and
either mailed to:

or submitted at the Annual Spring Coaches Meeting.
Faxes or email attachments cannot be accepted.
We must have an original signature.
4. USAFOOTBALL
Youth Coaching Certification Course
(Fall coaches)
All New Coaches and Returning Coaches must take and pass the
New USAFootball Youth Coaching Certification course.
In order to access the course you must get the
proper link, username and password. This will
be emailed to you by USA Football in an Invitation
Acceptance email. Your membership is pre-paid
by the RFL, do not pay for a membership yourself as
it will not be reimbursed and you will not be
included in the RFL Affiliate Chapter. Coach
information is uploaded to USA Football each week on
Sunday of the week you register in Thriva.
5.
Concussion Awareness and Equipment Fitting Class
(all coaches every year)
New this year all coaches must take an approved
Concussion Awareness class.
The State of Maryland is enacting legislation to
require this of all Youth and HS coaches. The
following classes are approved:

Once the required steps and conditions above
and those in the Revised RFL Rules have been
completed you will be placed on the RFL Field Pass
Distribution List for the 2012 Season.
Deadline for completion is 12 Midnight August 28.
